The Sr. Director, Operations is responsible for planning, directing, and coordination of project execution side of the business maximizing production in a cost-efficient manner. Serving as the General Manager’s right hand, this leader is responsible for increasing profit margins, minimizing overall business costs through proven leadership and business practices and full management of the P&L for assigned region. Core Responsibilities: · Responsible for the daily functions and operations of the Project Management Department. · Interfaces with all related departments/functions to determine the scheduling of work and materials. · Accountable for ensuring revenue throughput and cashflow expectations are received. Develop correction action if expectations are not being delivered. · Direct staff of Managers, Coordinators, Administrators and other project team members to profitably achieve company goals. · Create/sustain a highly functional/cross trained, effective team. Managing group of project managers, coordinators and administrators and act as lead mentor to other members of project management team, which can be measured through employee retention, quality of coaching sessions and surveys. · Diligently manages activities associated with the progress of construction projects. Accountable for ensuring that all contractual terms and obligations of such projects are maintained. Develop and manage corrective actions. Ensures projects are completed within or below budgeted costs. · Meets with customers and vendors to cultivate relationships and identify potential challenges with proposed resolutions, maximizing production and minimizing costs. · Prepares reports for management. Meets with key personnel to ensure timeliness of project deliverables. · Monitors status of change orders and billings and works with project management teams to resolve in a timely manner with a focus on enhancing the customer relationships. · Reviews contracts and PO’s and assists Contract Administration in successful contract negotiations with customers and vendors. Reviews plans and proposals and determines proper procedures in order to accomplish company/dept goals. · Meets with customers and vendors to cultivate relationships and identify potential challenges with proposed resolutions, maximizing production and minimizing costs. · Vet opportunities presented for potential sales and present for consideration to GM. · Establish and implement departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures. · Monitor projects and department budgets to ensure costs are within budget targets. Prepares reports for management. Meets with key personnel to ensure timeliness of project deliverables. Education/Training Bachelors Degree in a related field such as Engineering/Construction or Business is required. Work Experience Ten to twelve (10 - 12) years related experience as a Business Leader (Director Level or above) with a Construction Company or Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). General industrial and mechanical experience. Experience must encompass P&L responsibility along with supervisory/management responsibility. Prefer experience with an AISC and/or ASME compliant company. Specialized Knowledge As outlined in the Core Competencies, an individual must have thorough knowledge and an advanced understanding of each competency outlined above in order to carry out the essential functions of this position. Specialized Knowledge is also required in the following areas: Structural/mechanical/industrial construction delivery methods, construction design, and production efficiency metrics. Software & Technology Various office equipment is used such as personal computer, scanner, copier and fax. Extensive knowledge of computer software Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2010. Proficiency in software applications Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
