Open Position: PRN 12 hour shift. Must be able to work between the hours of 5:30am-6:10pm.
General Summary
The Kentucky Medication Aide (KMA) provides professional care for the residents according to established standards and practices. The KMA maintains a safe, positive, spiritual, and social environment for the residents.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Maintains established health care standards, policies, and procedures.
• Administers and documents medications as directed.
• Performs patient care as directed and when necessary, for the immediate comfort and safety of the residents.
• Observe residents for any problems, concerns, adverse/side effects related to medication(s), and reports to the Charge Nurse.
• Assists with the orientation of new employees.
• Recognizes emergencies and responds with proper protocol.
• Maintains resident rights and confidentiality of medical information.
• Performs clerical duties as needed.
Skills and Abilities Required
• Relates professionally and positively with staff and visitors, projects a professional image for the facility, and works cooperatively with other associates at all levels.
• Ability to withstand prolonged standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying.
• Maintains a regular attendance.
• Ability to learn basic computer knowledge and facility software.
Education, Training and/or Experience
Must be a graduate of an accredited Kentucky Medication Aide program with a current KMA license from the state of Kentucky. Must meet all local health regulations.
