SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for processing a potential blood donor through various screening tests that are part of the process to determine if the donor is suitable for donation. All activities performed by this position are under the direction of center management.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Daily:
• Assists donors in person or over the phone by answering questions.
• Performs QC on equipment utilized in the donor screening process.
• Performs all job duties in a safe manner and uses required personal protective equipment.
• Performs hematocrit testing as required by IBBI procedures, including the handling of the specimen, the performing of the test, and the analysis and reporting of the results.
• Determines donor suitability through various screening tests (hematocrit, vital signs, etc.), as required by IBBI procedures and training.
• Reviews the donor card for complete and accurate information and confirms that donor is acceptable for donation based on the date of their last donation, the results of the health history questioning, and any other donor suitability criteria.
• Maintains donor files per IBBI procedures.
• Performs cleaning and disinfection tasks according to IBBI procedures and frequency schedule.
• Interacts internally with center IBBI personnel and with donors. • Follows all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Company policies.
OTHER JOB DUTIES:
• Performs other duties as may be required/assigned. (Frequently)
• Interacts with vendors, job applicants, competitive centers, and auditors. (Infrequently)
• Interacts with other Interstate centers and with Corporate personnel. (Infrequently)
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:
• High school graduate or equivalent
• Education and/or experience in a medical field, preferred
• Must have good interpersonal and communication skills
• Explicit attention to detail is required
• Must have excellent organization and follow-up skills.
• Must have excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyze situations in a timely manner
