JOB TITLE: Colorguard Instructor
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Previous experience in color Guard as participant and/or coach or related position (preferred)
• Experience working with school-aged students, preferred
• Has met the requirements of a criminal record check as specified by Kentucky State law and other requirements as specified in district policy.
REPORTS TO :  High School Band Director and Fine Arts Coordinator
JOB GOAL : To coordinator in conjunction with the Band Director, the preparations, exercises, and activities of the color guard unit.  To prepare and direct the unit for independent performance and competition, as well as for performances integrated with the  marching band.
SPECIFIC EXPECTATIONS :
• Past track record of success in building quality color guards will be highly valued.  Proven success with motivating, organizing, communicating and working collaboratively under the leadership of the HS Band Director are expectations. Skills with other art forms (visual, dance and drama) will be highly valued in this position.
• Ability to write skill level-appropriate work for our students.
• Attendance at band camp, after school rehearsals, Home football games and Saturday competitions.
• Within two years, build a winter program headed eventually towards competition.
• Build support with parents for funding and construction of equipment and flags.
• Team player with the ability to work positively for the overall program
PERFORMANCE AND RESPONSIBILITES :
• Attend all rehearsals and performances, instructs members in fundamental and advance dance and flag techniques.
• Design color guard programs that effectively complement and enhance the visual and musical program.
• Work closely with the  Band Director and the other staff members to develop a visual program, including flag, uniform and prop design.
• Choreograph, arrange, and implement color guard routne(s), both as an integrated part of the marching band.
• Coordinate the color guard rehearsal schedule with the Band Director.
• Establish communication with parents of color guard students.
• Maintain a cooperative working relationship with Band Director
• Manage all equipment necessary for rehearsals and performances
• Other related duties, as assigned, to assist the Band Director prepare students for competitions and public appearances, including parades and reviews
Terms of Employment:
• Position begins 2020/2021 School Year
• Pay is based on Color Guard Stipend
