Job Summary Ensures accurate processing and recording of the company#s payroll by providing timely and accurate financial information and participating in daily payroll functions. # Job Responsibilities Stays current with all HR policies specific to team member payments. Assists in keeping current the standard operational procedures for all applicable responsibilities of the payroll department. Assists Payroll Specialist II and III in gathering documentation needed by internal and external auditors. Executes time and attendance processing and interface with payroll. Completes time calculations in compliance with established HR policies and procedures. Maintains all balancing records necessary for annual external agency audit. Manages workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely. Reconciles payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports. Assists in payroll system upgrade testing and report results to area Project Manager. Performs all activities necessary to process one or more in house payrolls, including maintaining records, filing of reports and voluntary deduction reports, processing involuntary deductions such as levies, garnishments, and child support. Assists management and executive leaders in gathering payroll data. Assists department managers and supervisors with timecard maintenance and problem resolution. Understands proper taxation of pretax cafeteria plan withholdings. Understands federal, state, and local withholding computation(s) along with bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual filing of reports and payments (including electronic payments) and W-2#s. Qualifications Associate#s degree or higher in related field required upon hire A combination of education, training and experience may be considered in lieu of degree. No experience required No licensure/certification/registration required Skills and Attributes Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment. Works under direct supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Applies knowledge at a basic level relying heavily on senior staff for troubleshooting. Working knowledge of payroll best practices and federal, state and local regulations for profit and non-profit entity.
